SCBA (SELF-CONTAINED BREATHING APPARATUS) TRAINING COURSE OVERVIEW

SCBA: A self-contained breathing apparatus or SCBA is sometimes called a single breathing apparatus (ASB) or a compressed air breathing apparatus (CABA). SBA is a device that provides breathable air in an "Immediately Dangerous to Life or Health" atmosphere (IDLH) worn by rescue workers, firefighters, and others. Today, the Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) has become an integral part of a firefighter's PPE, and quite possibly, it is the single most beneficial piece of safety equipment. As the scope of the fire service has broadened this fundamental piece of respiratory protection has proved its usefulness.
